Weight Loss For Charity Celebrates Their Fundraising

Randall McNeely is a gentleman with a big heart and a health problem. He needed to lose weight, but wanted to make a difference at the same time. So, he set out to raise funds for The Bartlett House through Weight Loss for Charity. His goal was to pledge $1.00 for every pound he lost and get others to pledge money for each pound he lost. He also invited anyone else who wanted to lose weight to do the same. His efforts did not go unnoticed. He was featured on WBOY news and on WAJR talk radio. Because of Mr. McNeely's big heart, he was able to raise over $10,000. Weight Loss for Charity will be celebrating with the community. An event to reveal the amount raised will be held on Saturday, June 25th will be held at 161 Meadow View Lane (Imperial Woods) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

About Us

Bartlett House, Inc. was founded in 1985 as a nonprofit organization to meet the needs of the homeless population in Monongalia County, West Virginia and surrounding areas. Since 1990, Bartlett House has been housed at 1110 University Avenue in Morgantown, WV - open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The shelter can house up to 72 men, women and children.

In West Virginia the problem of homelessness has become more obvious in recent years. There is no easy way to prdict who will be next. Experience has shown us that there are two basic types of homelessness: Crisis Poverty and Chronic Homelessness. Many factors may have contributed not only to making these persons homeless. Major personal crisis, unemployment, lack of affordable housing - but also to creating barriers to alleviating the situation. Mental illness, substance abuse, chronic disability. Regardless of the reason, the key is to provide quick and appropriate intervention that deals with both a person's basic emergency needs, as well as long-term isses - to start them on their journey to self-sufficiency and independence!
