Oct7 E4p Partners with Bartlett HousePosted by Doris Pirlo

E4p takes a sustainable approach to ending poverty one "E" at at time. E4p is a not-for-profit organization raising funds through local business partnerships, individual contributions, and organized fundraisers.  These funds are invested into project partnership organizations. E4p seeks to combat problems of homelessness and unemployment in the state through its partnership with the Bartlett House.

After assessing the needs of the community, E4p Morgantown has identified several organizations with which they would like to collaborate and is currently exploring long-term partnership opportunities.

  • Currently, consulting projects are being organized to match the skills of local West Virginia University students with the needs of local nonprofits. Additionally, E4p Morgantown hopes to raise awareness about the needs of partner communities in Africa and to organize an opportunity for interested individuals to visit, learn and serve at these foreign project sites. That trip is set to take place in May 2012. To learn more, please contact Natalie Committee at nataliec@e4poverty.org.
  • In addition to the educational program, E4p connects Bartlett House with human resources in the Morgantown community. Several individuals assist Bartlett House on behalf of E4p with administrative duties such as public relations, marketing and fundraising.
  • As a recently established organization in West Virginia, E4p Morgantown is seeking a corporate sponsor who is looking to participate in sustainable development both locally and globally. Being a sponsor enables the business or individual to have a high level of involvement in contributing to this impact.

About Us

Bartlett House, Inc. was founded in 1985 as a nonprofit organization to meet the needs of the homeless population in Monongalia County, West Virginia and surrounding areas. Since 1990, Bartlett House has been housed at 1110 University Avenue in Morgantown, WV - open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The shelter can house up to 72 men, women and children.

In West Virginia the problem of homelessness has become more obvious in recent years. There is no easy way to prdict who will be next. Experience has shown us that there are two basic types of homelessness: Crisis Poverty and Chronic Homelessness. Many factors may have contributed not only to making these persons homeless. Major personal crisis, unemployment, lack of affordable housing - but also to creating barriers to alleviating the situation. Mental illness, substance abuse, chronic disability. Regardless of the reason, the key is to provide quick and appropriate intervention that deals with both a person's basic emergency needs, as well as long-term isses - to start them on their journey to self-sufficiency and independence!
